Kona Pain Institute

Researching neurologic self-regulation for chronic pain elimination

American Flag Closeup

Kona Pain Institute LLC provides chronic pain elimination therapy for veterans and select non-veterans, free of charge, in exchange for video interviews that document the benefits. Priority is given to those suffering the effects of traumatic brain injury. KPI does not offer pain management.

KPI operates with the support of outside donors. Donations are not expected from KPI clientele. Donations are not tax-deductible. When funding allows, KPI will relocate to Oregon and establish a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research institute offering free pain therapy for veterans.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, 17 American veterans commit suicide every day, more than 6000 every year. This is entirely unacceptable for people who risk their lives to make the world a better place. The most common risk factor is injury-related chronic pain, followed by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury. An astounding 50% of American veterans have chronic pain caused by injuries. Of all veterans with head injuries, more than 50% develop chronic headaches, typically migraines. In nearly every case of chronic pain, management is the rule for veterans and non-veterans alike. In short, veterans are not receiving adequate pain care from doctors, pain research centers, or veterans organizations, all of whom have ignored the ANSSR therapy list of discoveries since 1995. As the sole provider of ANSSR therapy, Kona Pain Institute is positioned to change the world for veterans.

For every medical problem, there must be a best possible remedy. What makes it the best? The best remedies support innate mechanisms designed to heal specific problems. This principle holds true for chronic pain caused by injuries and osteoarthritis, for which mainstream medicine asserts there is no cure. Before ANSSR therapy, no medical practitioner in any field knew that the autonomic nervous system possessed mechanisms that actually heal injury-related pain, osteoarthritis, and similar pathologies—without drugs or anatomical manipulation. For this reason, the best remedy could not be identified. ANSSR therapy breaks the stalemate by identifying the underlying problems, the specialized healing mechanisms, and the one reliable remedy that accesses our natural healing capacity. Moreover, since the nervous system is innately equipped to heal chronic pain by way of medical-grade relaxation, the same healing mechanisms can be activated by virtual reality and robotic rehabilitation devices currently waiting to be engineered. When these devices arrive, any practitioner will be capable of providing the best possible remedy for 50% of chronic pain cases worldwide, thus rendering obsolete half of the pain management industry. KPI Interviews

KPI interviews document the ANS responses deployed in the ANSSR healing process. Each response occurs automatically when the ANS achieves a distinct state of relaxation that Andrew Arneson calls absolute comfort, wherein the relaxation response is maximized and the stress response is cancelled both systemically and locally, in sites of pathology. All of these ANS healing responses are ANSSR therapy discoveries because no other method uses the same procedures. The first ANSSR therapy discovery was made in 1995—cessation of common migraines in progress and permanently. See the medical theory page for a list of currently known ANS healing responses. Many more interviews are needed for the KPI database, which demonstrates consistent benefits of ANSSR therapy.

Donors and investors welcome.

Kona Pain Institute seeks to partner with a local MD, DO, or ND, of exceptional character and scientific bent, in order to validate ANSSR therapy and secure an R&D contract with a medical device manufacturer. ANSSR therapy benefits can be standardized and scaled only with technology, specifically robotics and virtual reality. These must be reengineered by means of extensive research into neurologic healing responses, conducted mainly by the sole ANSSR practitioner in both private practice and neuroimaging lab. But first, the PI must bridge the abyss between uncredentialed practitioner and profit-oriented medical industry. Near-term benefits include 10% of treatment fees and statewide publicity. When an R&D contract is secured, the PI’s duties will terminate and he or she will be duly compensated for this historic role—possibly millions.

Prerequisites:

  • Must have a full-time treatment space to offer in Kona, ideally to include weekends

  • Must share a deep desire to reduce suffering far beyond his or her practice

  • Must possess extraordinary learning capacity for exciting, new information, i.e. tolerance plus desire to learn

  • Must enthusiastically welcome media appearances

  • Must be responsible, communicative, and dedicated to excellence

In the big picture, ANSSR pain therapy and ANSSR psychotherapy are stepping stones to world peace, societal reform, and biosphere preservation. The revolutionary behavior science that informs both is a critical, missing piece of the puzzle, and must be legitimized and submitted to world leaders without delay. A morally conscious PI is required for the first leg of the process. See the Method video that introduces this new behavior science.

ANSSR

Autonomic nervous system self-regulation℠ (ANSSR) is a predictable healing process that activates ANS healing responses never seen before, i.e. new, foundational biology. These healing responses eliminate various types of chronic pain, and cannot be accessed by anatomical manipulation. ANSSR therapy predictably launches the ANSSR healing process with a totally new method—without any form of manipulation or familiar procedures.

Groundbreaking clinical

research since 1992

  • Injury-related chronic pain

  • Neck & low back pain

  • Osteoarthritis pain

  • Migraine headache

  • RSD/CRPS pain

  • Infant trauma

Healing responses: 1) spontaneous realignment of the skeleton, i.e. without any type of manipulation, 2) ANS pain discharge mechanism. Age and duration of pain are nonissues for the ANSSR healing process, which is a natural function of the autonomic nervous system—like relaxation and stress response.

Healing responses: 1) spontaneous relaxation of extreme muscle tension, 2) cessation of injury-related migraines, 3) decisive healing of chronic neck exhaustion—the insidious cause of spinal degeneration, 4) ANS discharges that erase the shock of traumatic injuries for permanent relaxation of the injury site, i.e. pain elimination.

About the Founder

Andrew Arneson, LMT (Lic. 17557) is a uniquely talented medical scientist, the founder and sole practitioner of ANSSR therapy. Arneson is also the founder of a revolutionary behavior science—the science of eliciting healthy behavior—which informs ANSSR therapy. His medical discoveries are best described as spontaneous self-regulation in the autonomic nervous system, an effect of total emotional and physical comfort made possible by Arneson's behavior science.

What is Medicine?

Medicine is support for the healing capacity of target body systems. The purpose of medical research is to determine 1) which system needs support, and 2) what form of support. Support equals medical procedure. Proper procedure enables the body to do what it already knows how to do, i.e. natural functioning.

What is Science?

Science is observation of reality for the purpose of learning new information. Scientists discover information new to humanity. Scientific means that people or practices support learning. People are scientific to the extent that they 1) acknowledge data without believing or disbelieving, and 2) insist on personal observation. Belief without observation opposes science.
